Heterogeneous Telescope Networks

The eSTAR project is a key player in the Heterogeneous Telescope Networks (HTN) consortium which represents a number of major research groups in the field of robotic telescopes. The organisation has three primary aims:

  • Interoperability between robotic telescope networks
  • Interoperability with the Virtual Observatory for event notification
  • Establishment of an e-market for the exchange of telescope time

Initial funding for the consortium and the first HTN Workshop was provided as part of an EPSRC grant for "Links to International e-Science Sister Projects", which was obtained in a joint proposal between the eSTAR and Robonet-1.0 Projects in the United Kingdom, the MONET Project in Germany and the RAPTOR (Los Alamos National Laboratory) and SGM (NASA Advanced Architectures and Automation Group) Projects in the United States.

HTN Workshop, Exeter 2005

The first HTN Workshop was held in Exeter at the Southgate Hotel in July 2005.

  • Some notes from the Meeting
  • Actions arising from the Meeting
